Humanists Brisbane invites you to a unique and timely public talk with Richy Thompson, Director of Human Rights and Advocacy at Humanists UK, exploring how humanist values shape real-world change across the major stages of human life.
This event focuses on advocacy across the human life-cycle, from marriage and education, through human rights and freedom of belief, and concluding with assisted dying. Drawing directly on Richy’s international campaigning experience with Humanists UK, the talk demonstrates how evidence-based thinking, secular ethics, and civic engagement can improve lives at every stage, from childhood to end-of-life care.
Rather than abstract philosophy, Richy shows how humanism actively shapes issues that affect families directly, such as inclusive education, non-religious marriage recognition, freedom from religious coercion, and ethical decision-making at the end of life.
Richy’s role places him at the intersection of media, law, parliament, and community action, offering rare insight into how campaigns influence governments and institutions. Attendees will gain a clearer understanding of how citizens can engage effectively in democratic change.
This is not just about what humanists believe, but about how those beliefs are turned into action that benefits individuals, families, and society as a whole.
