Details

This dialogue-free cinematic experience explores a 19th-century dinner party where a wealthy Count is driven to jealousy by his wife's interactions with their guests. A shadow puppeteer entertains the group, using silhouettes and reflections to mirror the characters' duplicitous actions.

The film works entirely with light and shadow, without any text or intertitles to direct meaning. In alignment with our values of celebrating great works of art and human creativity, the film will be accompanied by a newly composed, live performance by David Bailey on the Gallery’s 1929 Wurlitzer organ, and it is always a joy to experience human creativity through his art.
