Satellite-derived pasture insights
NewyTechPeople, 9 Downie Street, Marysville, AU🎙️Topic & Speaker Bio:
Annually, Australia exports over 2 million tonnes of red meat from beef, sheep and goats. Its wool accounts for 45% of global supply. And 30% of its milk production is exported as milk and value added products. This economic activity is driven by graziers' abilities to manage the pastures that their livestock eat. Knowledge of the feedbase available to their herds at any moment in time allows graziers to make strategic decisions about their stocking levels and stock movements.
Tony will demonstrate Cibolabs's satellite-based pasture monitoring service and how graziers are using it to sustainably manage their farms and livestock. Hear about the machine learning model used to estimate pasture biomass from space. Learn about the cloud-native data-processing pipeline delivering weekly pasture biomass estimates to thousands of graziers managing 200 million hectares of Australia's land. And see what insights other businesses are creating from the data.
