Session description:
In this talk we will learn about the world of Software Defined Radio (SDR) as it relates to cybersecurity. This talk will teach the audience how to use OSINT techniques to access publicly available data to interact with, enumerate and explore the invisible world of radio. This presentation will cover some basic radio theory, and connect the world of radio amateurs to cybersecurity experts by demonstrating the use of SDR devices. To participate in the demo please bring a RTL-SDR V3 or V4 USB device, an appropriate antenna, as well as a Windows or Linux device.
Your speaker:
Frank Coburn (linkedin) is a defensive cybersecurity professional currently working in the healthcare space. In his current role he protects a critical infrastructure organization from cyber threats while improving their software security program. Previously Frank has worked as a consultant in the world of offensive security, focusing on penetration testing, cloud and application security.
Your host:
Todd Dow (linkedin) is a Technical Security Solutions Architect at Cisco. He is also a writer, speaker and founder of InfoSec Hamilton. Todd has over 20 years of experience in the cybersecurity field performing penetration tests, providing security architecture and compliance consulting and creating, developing and leading high performing security teams – this included working as the CISO at two organizations: First Ontario Credit Union and ArcelorMittal Dofasco. Todd maintains CISSP, CISA and PMP credentials and he has also earned an Hon BA in Philosophy and Religious Studies from the University of Toronto.
