Study of Chapter 15, Verses 8 - 10:
The Way to the Supreme Spirit
Discussion Themes:
- MORE THAN A BODY: Believing we’re just the body is to be hypnotised. It doesn’t mean we’re blocked from drawing on deeper resources of resilience within us, but it can limit our outlook. The ancient sages declare that, in essence, we are not the body; rather, we are a soul inhabiting a body. This can be an empowering perspective, helping us maintain a sense of freedom even as the aging body imposes limitations.
- REINCARNATION: Fundamental to Eastern Philosophy is the belief in reincarnation, which posits we’re on a journey through many lives. Through right thought and action, we increasingly reap happier lives and deeper wisdom, leading to rebirths in circumstances that propel our spiritual evolution. Seeking proof of reincarnation can’t be found by external study. Proof comes only subjectively for those evolved enough to digest the memories of past lives.
- EYE OF KNOWLEDGE: With our ‘fleshy eyes’, we’re compelled to see a solid table or chair, to see a world of distinctly separate objects, and not the underlying sub-atomic world of frenetic swirling sub-atomic particles. Such subtle perceptions elude us. But with the ‘eye of knowledge’ we penetrate beyond the gross world.
We're a multicultural group of varying ages, including our Vedanta Society members and friends. We always welcome new faces and hear new perspectives.
