What we’re about
This is a group for anyone that loves to adventure outdoors and wants to do it with other people, even if they are complete strangers. If you are between 21 and 60 and like to hike, camp, raft, ski, board, travel and other activities this is the group for you! If you're only looking for happy hours, this isn't the group for you, this is NOT a singles group. We plan happy hours now and then to get the members of the group together in social settings to discuss future adventures - some good plans can be made over a beer or two! And all good adventures end with a drink!
It's better with someone else...
It's better with beer/drinks...
It's Better Outdoors...
Come join us!
Our motto is : "We don't talk quietly, hike slowly, go to bed early or only have just one drink"
Please make sure to read the Waiver (General Release of Liability). By joining the group you accept the policy decribed here:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1x-HMpzi-4XKZPa-7XTk-nQIa-v0CwZj5kgehs7mSnGw/edit?usp=sharing
Note: this is NOT a beginners group and events are typically geared towards those with some experience usually at an intermediate or advanced level depending on the event - ie: we don't hike slow and don't do short hikes
Please make sure you also read the 'What is expected of you' as described here:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1C3oqyau0EjNVnHyKoc1DH0fi5PmLlB7wVH4-eSykZUg/edit?usp=sharing
Joining the group also means you're ok with being photographed during adventures - we always take pics: for the memories and for promotion of future events (we can't always accommodate a 'no photo' request)
This is a real meetup group, this is NOT a business nor am I promoting a business and I do not promote businesses. If you see an event posted that means that I will be there to meet you, greet you, do the activity with you and have a drink with you during or afterwards. We are also not a networking group and do not tolerate solicitation of members.
We welcome anyone in their 20s - 50s of any gender, race or nationality. But please email the event organizer first if you want to bring a dog...sometimes they are ok and sometimes not.

See all- Happy Hour! Parks on Tap at Lemon HillLemon Hill Dr, Philadelphia, PA 19130, Philadelphia, PE
## Philadelphia’s Traveling Beer Garden That Gives Back
A partnership between Philadelphia Parks & Recreation and FCM Hospitality, Parks on Tap was created to be a traveling beer garden throughout the city's various, beautiful parks all summer long. Proceeds from Parks on Tap benefit the Fairmount Park Conservancy. Each park and location is collectively selected as a way to highlight and enhance the offerings that Philadelphia city parks provide. It aims for a simple aesthetic: well-kept outdoor spaces where friends and families can meet up to enjoy food, drinks, and fun in a natural green space. A portion of all proceeds benefits each park.
Meetup with IBO on Thursday May 29 as Parks on Tap serves up on Lemon Hill
Find the entrance and then look for the large IBO flagjoin us for some (hopefully) nice summer weather and a few drinks and food as we talk adventure

Will cancel for rain or drizzle
and will be doing another one of these in June - Paddle to & Camp on Burling*** Isl*** - please read ALL the details, new eventNeeds location
PLEASE READ ALL THE DETAILS - this is a new event to IBO, I've never done it (myself or with the group), and it's slightly complicated
WILL CANCEL FOR RAIN
I'm not spelling the location out because I don't want this to come up in a google search by accident - so you'll need to type in the address in to your google map
We are going to paddle to Burlingt0n Islnd from the Burlingt0n boat ramp at 449 E Pearl St Burlingt0n - you'll need your own paddleboard or kayak, no rentals available, no other way to get to the island
And then we're going to camp on the island for the night - so this is like backpacking...there are no facilities or running water, you need to carry in everything you'll need for a night - food, drinks, music (yes, we're going to have a good time), toilet paper, etc
There is a fresh water lake in the middle of the island that we will be camping on so we can use that to filter water from (make sure you have water filtration)Departure from Burlingt0n boat ramp - meet at 1:30, paddling by 2:15
*parking* - drop your stuff at the boat ramp but don't park there - there's no overnight parking there - park in the playground lot next door on the other side of the basketball courtThe paddle will take us about 25-30 min, it's only about a mile or so from the dock, but there could be wind and some waves to slow us down
speaking of wind and waves...make sure to keep everything dry! dry bags, double trash bags, etc...water will splash onto your paddleboard and kayak so you need to make sure your stuff is secured and protectedPacking: imaging you are backpacking but you have to keep it dry and fit it on a paddleboard or kayak - but that also means you can try to bring a small cooler, too (I'll bring the speaker, don't worry about that haha)
The paddle shouldn't be that hard but you won't be able to make 2 trips - the tide will be too low to return to the island again, until much later
Once we get to the landing spot, you'll have to pull your SUP/kayak out of the water and up over the hump and into the lake and then paddle to the campsite a short distance away
or you can hike your stuff to the campsite and come back for your boat
But best to have the boat in the lake to avoid it being taken by the tide and then you have the boat to paddle around the lake on too, which we can do once camp is set upAnd then it's just campfire, beverages and music for the night - remember, we don't go to bed early so don't set up near the fire if you aren't going to be up as late as the rest of us
see the pictures of the Island to get an idea of the layout of the island
and you can read more about it here:

I've planned this trip around the tidal schedule, if you'd like to check my times and tides, you can find them here: https://tides.willyweather.com/nj/burlington-county/delaware-river--burlington-island.html
high tide is noon, low tide is 6:30pm though so we only have the early afternoon to arrive
Tide will be high when we leave the island like 11am or noon SaturdayNo guests allowed, all attendees must be IBO members
if you'd like to bring someone, just have them join the group, it's free
