Rumpke Recycling Center Tour

Ever wonder what happens to your trash that is sent for recycling? Rumpke Recycling doesn't end at the curb, it's just the start. 80% of what we collect stays in Ohio, getting transformed into new products that support local jobs.

Recyclable material is sorted at Rumpke’s Cincinnati Material Recovery Facility (MRF). It is one of the largest residential recycling plants in North America and serves 4.5 million people with the capacity of processing at least 55 tons of recycling per hour. The tour includes a short video, a review of items acceptable for recycling and a walking tour of the plant to show how the recyclable materials are sorted. Tours last approximately 60-90 minutes. Tour participants must be at least thirteen years of age.
