July 4 & 5: Inspect Lime Kiln Bridge by JRH civil engineers

Details
This Meetup is limited to James River Hikers who are Registered Professional Civil Engineers (and their civil engineer spouses) of which there are five planning to participate.
We'll inspect the 85-year-old bridge over Woods Creek on Lime Kiln Road in the City of Lexington scheduled to be replaced in 2026.
The existing superstructure will be replaced, and the bridge will be widened to the upstream side without adding vehicular capacity. The superstructure includes the bridge deck, railings and other components resting on the piers and abutments.
The new bridge will include a six-foot-wide sidewalk along the south side
The bridge will be constructed in stages to allow for uninterrupted pedestrian traffic.
The total estimated cost of this project is $3,424,488.
