What we’re about
Jisso-Ji Zen Ann Arbor offers group meditation practice in the Soto Zen Buddhist tradition of Shunryu Suzuki, author of Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind. We meet in The Center for Sacred Living, 210 Little Lake Drive in Ann Arbor. Practice is led by Taikodo Marta Dabis whose practice originated in the San Francisco Zen Center, an ordained priest and associate member of the Soto Zen Buddhist Association. Everyone is welcome, no prior experience necessary. Please come 20 minutes early to orientation & introduction to Zazen -- Zen meditation. Fellowship over a meal together, afterward, off-site is optional.

Ever wondered what it looks like to care for a garden while bowing in and chanting with Zen practitioners? Our Zen and gardening traditions go back to California, Japan and China, and Crane’s Path Farm
in Chelsea is run by a long time Zen practitioner, Dmitry Berenson. Our sangha will attend our Sunday programs at the Center in the morning then take a trip to help out with weeding and basic caretaking of the growing plants and enjoy some fresh air and good company. Refreshments will be offered. Everyone is welcome. Please wear gardening-friendly clothing, and if you have a couple tools, bring some.
