Talk 1: Finding Joy After AI: An Inside Out Look at How We Work by Kevin Meneses
Inspired by Disney and Pixar's Inside Out films, this (pre-recorded) talk uses their premise as a framework to explore what team survey data reveals about AI adoption, productivity, and working hours, offering practical ways to thrive in an AI-assisted workflow.A bit about Kevin:
- Kevin is a Junior Software Engineer at Fergus who transitioned into engineering from the Customer Support team after completing a full stack developer programme.
Talk 2: Building AI without Losing Our Values by
Lauren Peate
AI is here to stay – hype, copyright theft, data worker mistreatment, environmental harm, and all. If you care about people and the planet but also need to understand new tech, what can you do? I’ll recommend a middle ground – using AI in features and workflows without compromising our values. Combining my own experience with insights from our original research with hundreds of global developers, I’ll share examples of how to use this tech with care.A bit about Lauren:
- Lauren Peate is a data nerd who cares about people. She’s founder and CEO of Multitudes, which turns engineering metrics into a tool for continuous improvement – in AI, engineering productivity, developer experience, and more. Through her career, she’s worked with a wide range of organizations, from Fortune 500 tech companies in San Francisco to startups in the Middle East. Previously on a PhD track, she started her career conducting independent research through a Fulbright grant.
