•KAYAK&CAMP ON THE COLORADO RIVER BELOW GLENN CANYON DAM
•HARD SHELL KAYAKS ONLY. NO INFLATABLES.
•We will be meeting on Friday at Lee's Ferry Campground for the night. This is a first-come-first-served campground. There are flush toilets and sinks, no showers. $13/site with NP pass, or $26 if no pass.
•You need to book your shuttle/backhaul for Saturday, October 11th with www.kayakthecolorado.com or call 435.275.2925.
Get on the shuttle beginning at 11 am. Cost is $80/person, $101 after tax and tip. See cancellation policy below.
**Leave a comment below when you've PURCHASED your backhaul.
I will move you to the 'going' list.
*I'm limiting the group to around 25-30 people.
The Plan:
•We will be kayaking down from the sandbar just below the dam after being dropped off from the 1 hour shuttle boat/backhaul.
•Paddle approximately 6 miles, with current, to Horseshoe Bend camp mile 9 (approximately 2 hours of paddling)
•Camp at Horseshoe Bend. If for some reason, we see that the site is not available on the shuttle up, then the alternative is 8 Mile camp, slightly past Horseshoe Bend.
•Please bring firewood, even a piece or two in your kayak is appreciated.
•There is a vault toilet at both locations. Bring toilet paper just in case! (BYOTP)
•There are 8 opportunities for restrooms along the riverside. River mile 14,11,10,9,8,7,6 and 4 mile.
•No trash pickup so pack it in, pack it out.
•Sunday, we will leave at our leisure and paddle the 9 miles downstream to Lee's Ferry, pack up and go home exhilarated.
•FYI, The dam is river mile 15, Horseshoe Bend camp is mile 9 and Lee's Ferry is mile 0.
•Weather will be changing at this time of the year, so check the weather and dress appropriately. Remember that the water is very cold, and you can get hypothermia within minutes of being submersed.
•Dry bags for all gear is required. Do not pack gear in trash bags or plastic containers.
•ZIPPED LIFE JACKETS MUST BE WORN WHILE ON THE WATER.
•No alcohol consumption on the water, but break it out at camp!
What to bring:
•Camp gear-tent, chair, cookstove, etc
•Water and food
•Firewood
•PFD/Paddle/Kayak
•Hat, sunscreen, gloves
Hope to see you there!
Always a great memory maker and a fun trip!
C'mon! You could use a good paddling!
