KAYAK Blue Ridge Reservoir and CAMP Rock Crossing Campground
We'll try this one again in 2026! Hopefully with more rains this year, Blue Ridge will have more water.
•Rock Crossing Campground, elevation of 7,316', has picnic tables, campfire rings, cooking grills, tent pads, bear food storage lockers, drinking water, vault toilets, trash collection, and campground hosts. There are no utility hookups or showers. Campsites vary in size and can accommodate a wide range of equipment with a maximum RV or trailer length of 32'.
•3 miles of dirt from Hwy 87, another 2 miles from campground to the launch at Blue Ridge/CC Cragin.
•Reservations at Rock Crossing are available at $20/nt with up to 2 vehicles per site, so share if possible to save money.
•$10 if using an America the Beautiful Pass.

•I suggest making reservations ASAP since it's fairly open right now(Jan)
Here's the plan:
Saturday: We will group paddle Blue Ridge at 9:30 am.
Friday: Option to go to paddle Clear Creek and hang out in Winslow.
There are also hiking trails nearby. (AZ Trail)
•If the campground fills up, there is dispersed/free camping across the road from Rock Crossing on FS 751B.
What to bring:
•Kayak, paddle, gloves, PFD (life jacket)
•SUP's are welcome on this paddle
•Firewood to share
•Camping gear- tent, chairs, cooking stove, food
•Optional: wheels for kayak, binoculars, games, books, hiking poles/shoes
•We've never used Rock Crossing as a small group, hopefully it proves to be a convenient, fun, and good time for all.
Directions:
From Payson, Arizona, drive approximately 42.5 miles north on AZ 87 toward Winslow to FR 751(turnoff for the Blue Ridge / C.C. Cragin Reservoir). Turn right on FR 751 and drive approximately 2.5 miles to the campground.
