Ninigret is a coastal lagoon in Charlestown, Rhode Island located at 41°22′45″N 71°38′43″W. It is the largest of the nine lagoons, or "salt ponds", in southern Rhode Island. This paddle is a tidal water paddle and as such can be unpredictable in regard to current and wind direction. Depending on your skill level and experience you will need to be prepared for the unexpected. This paddle can be somewhat of a challenge along the 6-7 mile loop that scores a moderate to difficult rating according to "All Trails App".

Requirements to attend this paddle
- arrive 1/2 hour prior to posted launch time
- event start time is in your boat, in the water, and ready to paddle! You will need to transport your boat a few hundred feet, from the parking lot to the beach to launch.
- 10 foot kayak or longer recommended
- light
- whistle
- a Coast Guard approved PFD (inflatable PFDs are not allowed)
- spray skirt suggested
- bilge pump
- appropriate clothing for the water temperature
Suggested
We strongly recommend that you bring along the following:
- drinking water
- food -plan to bring snacks or a lunch, appropriate for paddle duration, we normally break for lunch prior to the return for a day long paddle
- sunscreen
- a change of dry clothes in a dry bag
- familiarize yourself with the area prior to paddling
- check weather conditions for wind speed direction and tides
Any paddle sport is an assumed risk sport. Some aspects of canoeing and kayaking involve the risk of serious injury or death. Southern New England Paddlers (SNEP) although safety conscious, cannot guarantee your personal safety in our Meetup activities.
