These Meetups or open to EVERYONE, with no charge for the Meetup. You don't have to know anything about Chinese Medicine, or the meditative arts to profoundly enjoy these get togethers. Meet other local people who are interested in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Learn how Tai Chi and Qigong are part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and the basis of TCM, and how it is now validated by modern physics and medical research.
Also experience the mental, emotional, and physical benefits of these ancient mind / body sciences.

We've got a new Mind Body / Tai Chi / Mindfulness / Meditation class beginning next Saturday, August 2nd at 9:30 am at the gorgeous Shawnee Civic Center.

CALL 913-631-5200Since this is a short 4 week session, if you have friends or family you've been thinking about getting to try Mind Body ... this session would be a low cost 4 week opportunity to "give it a shot."
What do we do in these classes? Well, first we ... slow down and hang out. Mindfulness is at the core of Tai Chi and Mind Body practices. So, what is Mindfulness?
It's really simple and can be fun. For a class like ours, it would start with walking into the gorgeous class room of glass walls looking out at woods and sky ... and just "taking in the beauty of it." Then, it might include just hanging out for a few minutes with the fascinating people around you who come to Tai Chi Mind Body classes ... and just "enjoying their company," or maybe just breathing and relaxing and enjoying the view.
Then, as we start the class meditation ... you've already gotten yourself into a great mood to get the most out of it. We offer some profoundly beneficial Meditation techniques that are more complex ... but, we also teach simple ones you could begin today ... right now.
ONE SIMPLE TECHNIQUE WE OFFER ... If you close your eyes and relax in your chair, and let your lungs/body fill with a full abdominal breath, and count 1 - 2- 3- 4 -5 while breathing in ... and then relax that breath out in a long sighing exhale while continuing the count 6-7-8-9-10-11-12 ... and do that over and over again, relaxing more with each sighing exhale ... it will slow down your heart. It will slow down your racing thoughts, and your mind will be more still. Your body will stop producing stress chemicals/cortisol, etc. ... and if you do it every day, it'll have profound benefits.
Then we'll take a quick water/bathroom break, and return 5 minutes later to start Moving Qigong Warm Up Meditations, very gentle, very easy, very relaxing, very pleasant. Then we'll finish the class with a bit of Tai Chi practice.
So, these classes can be a wonderful relaxing adventure ... or they can be stressful and annoying ... :-) That's what these practices in time make obvious ... any moment of our lives can be profound, beautiful, or boring and meaningless. The greatest lesson of Mindfulness practice is ... each moment is what we make it.
But the practice of Mind Body scientifically is shown to boost our moods, lessen depression, anxiety, make us younger, vastly healthier ... but, it all starts with what we decide it will be.
When you call they'll give you the cost of this 4 week session, but it's around $12 or so per class ... times 8 for the session. We try to keep them affordable so we don't add financial stress to anyone.
