What we’re about
Join us at the Life Enrichment Center for an array of classes, including painting (oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels), drawing, creative writing, air-dry clay, tai chi, mah jong, bridge, and much more!
The Life Enrichment Center is located in the quaint north Tampa neighborhood of Forest Hills at 9704 North Boulevard, Tampa 33612. Our contact information is (813) 932-0241 or info@lectampa.org.
Our attendees are active adults of all ages (primarily 50+). Our professional instructors work with participants at all skill levels, so everyone is welcome and included. Classes are small and one-on-one attention is provided.
This is a fun place, with friendly people who have similar interests. There is no other place like us in Tampa!
As our society continues to age and lives longer, organizations like ours are becoming even more important. Research indicates that baby boomers are going to be looking for activities that challenge and stimulate them and enable them to explore creative options for which they have not previously had time. This is exactly what the Life Enrichment Center has been about since its inception in 1980 – offering innovative classes and activities that provide adults with the opportunity to continue to learn and grow.
We would love to have you join our group of adults and active seniors!

Need to recharge your body and mind? Join Dr. Marianne Chen’s weekly Yang Style Tai Chi class to enjoy gentle, non-strenuous exercise that helps improve balance, muscle strength, stamina, and bone density. It also reduces blood pressure, stress, and joint pain.
Tai Chi is low impact and gentle, putting minimal stress on muscles and joints. It is self-paced and suitable for all ages to learn and practice. Yang Style is the most popular form of Tai Chi practiced today. It is characterized by gentle, circular, and open movements in a slow, flowing form. Yang Style allows people of all ages and fitness levels to safely exercise and improve their health.
Characterized by slow, rhythmic movements and deep breathing, Tai Chi is often called “moving meditation.” The movements are fluid, circular, and slow. Each posture flows into the next without pause, ensuring the body is in constant motion. Tai Chi aims to achieve harmony between the body and mind with postures that are equally balanced between yin and yang.
Tai Chi is so well-loved because it helps individuals remain present in the moment and recharge their mind and body. The slow, graceful movements help people step back from their fast-paced life to find inner quiet and serenity. It loosens the mind and body from the tensions of stress, so you can fully relax in the moment.1 attendee

This class is designed to support, inspire, and challenge writers of all experience levels. There isn’t a more supportive place to nurture your creative journey. Whether you are a new student of creative writing or a published author looking to polish a piece of prose, this class will help you create a finished piece of fiction, poetry, or nonfiction.
Students will develop and refine their writing skills and creative self-expression through a combination of in-class exercises and take-home prompts. Students will learn and practice the building blocks of creative writing, such as: character, setting, voice, point of view, plot, descriptive language, and more to develop the critical skills needed to read like writers and understand how to use these tools in their own writing.
In a classic workshop format, students will get to discuss their writing with their peers and instructor as well as receive and give constructive feedback. Students will also learn about editing and techniques to enhance their writing to take a first draft to a finished piece. In addition, instructors will discuss the publishing process, writing contests, and how students can submit their work to get published.
