Leicester’s biggest free festival is back, and we are heading out to soak up the vibrant atmosphere at the Riverside Festival!

Spanning across Bede Park, Castle Gardens, Western Boulevard, and the DMU Campus, it’s going to be a massive weekend bursting with live music, street food, arts, and incredible waterside activities.

Don't worry if you're new and/or looking at coming alone. We're a very welcoming bunch and will make sure you’re introduced and comfortable right away! And nothing stops you from coming and going from the group; there's a lot to explore and enjoy after all!

### What's there to do?

  • The Food & Drink: Sampling international street food, exploring global food stalls, and grabbing a drink at the licensed bars.
  • The Music: Catching brilliant local talent across the festival stages. This year, the Main Stage has moved to the center of Bede Park with extended hours!
  • On the Water: Checking out the boat rides, kayaks, and the unique riverside pop-up art gallery.
  • Socializing: Hanging out, chatting, and enjoying the sun with a great crowd.

### How to find the group

Because the festival covers a lot of ground, keep an eye on the comments section on the day. We’ll post live updates of where the group is standing so you can easily catch up with us! You can also message on our WhatsApp Community or message me directly here on Meetup.

### Traveling & Parking Info

  • By Bike: If you are cycling down, there is free secure bike parking right on-site.
  • By Car: There is no on-site car parking due to road closures. You will need to park in the city centre and walk over (it's only a short 5 to 10 minute walk to the festival grounds), or use public transport.

> Recommended City Centre Car Parks:
>
> * Newarke Street Car Park (LE1 5SN) [Closest to Castle Gardens and DMU]
> * Highcross Car Parks (Rooftop LE1 4FY / John Lewis LE1 4QJ)

### What to bring

  • Sun protection: Suncream, sunglasses, and a hat. We will be outdoors all afternoon, so definitely come prepared for the sunshine!
  • A daytime bag: Perfect for holding your essentials, card or cash for the stalls, and any crafts or bits you pick up along the way.
  • A picnic blanket: Highly recommended! We will likely find a nice grassy spot on Bede Park or Castle Gardens to sit down, chat, eat street food, and listen to the live music.
  • A refillable water bottle: To keep hydrated throughout the day while walking around.

Note: I am currently setting this up for Saturday, but if you want me to set the event to Sunday too, let me know! I can absolutely do that if there is enough interest for both days.

Can't wait to see you all there!
