Scarborough Weekend
Details
Checking interest for a weekend in Britain's oldest seaside resort!
I plan on doing two walks.
The longer walk on Saturday will be weather dependant and we have the option of a stunning 7 mile coastal walk from the castle along the Cleveland Way National Trail footpath above the cliffs to Hayburn Wyke. Alternatively there is a lower level 5 mile circular walk in which we can explore the wooded valley of Hayburn Wyke, which reaches down to a magnificent rocky cove complete with tumbling waterfall and giant boulders.
Sunday's walk will be a 6 mile walk starting from Cayton Bay before climbing up to Oliver's Mount, an area of high ground overlooking Scarborough. It offers views over the town, and a tribute monument to the war dead. Additionally, Oliver’s Mount road race circuit is England’s only natural ‘road’ race track. Olivers on the Mount is a fantastic cafe/restaurant serving fresh, local produce with iconic views of Scarborough.
Walks will be added seperately with start points if any interest. Should the weather defeat us there is still lots to see and do to keep us busy.
