What we’re about
The Lisboa Photo Community is an informal and diverse community of cool and friendly humans interested in photography, photowalks and other camera-related activities in and around Lisbon. It exists to bring together photographers of all levels of experience, to create spaces for socialization and to enable exchanges of information, questions and ideas.
Community Rules
- The first rule of the community is: be nice and kind, always. Bring positive vibes.
- Please be a good human being: show respect when photographing people. In addition to being aware of the laws, photographers should keep in mind such concerns as the privacy and dignity of people they photograph, the power dynamics that are at play, their cultural and personal biases as well as cultural sensitivity. A very basic guideline could be to put yourself in your subject's shoes — how would you feel if the roles were reversed? How would you fee if you were being photographed in such situation and circumstances?
- Keep your RSVPs updated. If you sign up and don’t show up at an activity, you might get banned from the group.
- No advertising, selling, marketing, or any commercial activity.
- No trolling, no harassment, no unsolicited messages to persons you haven’t met, no hate speech.

See all- LxPC 28th June - A MAAT Evening with Jeff WallMAAT Main Entrance, Lisbon
MAAT is hosting a Jeff Wall exhibition and there's extended Happy Hours on Fridays and Saturdays all summer.
On MAAT's website: "They are images that have been previously thought out, planned and then executed, like the work of a painter or film director. As the artist says, "The poetics or the ‘productivity’ of my work has been in the stagecraft and pictorial composition – what I call ‘cinematography.’ This, I hope, makes it evident that the theme has been subjectivised, has been depicted, reconfigured according to my feelings and literacy."
Let's seize this opportunity to explore this retrospective of Wall's work.
There's a 45-min documentary on the photographer's work on the website of MAAT and YT.

There will be a Whatsapp group for updates and live-location on the day - stay tuned for details (link tba in a private comment below) - LxPC 5th July - Some sort of a Redemption Walk maybe: three modern Churches.A padaria portuguesa (Marquês de Pombal), Lisbon
This Saturday, João invites us to an exploration of an astonishing case of brutalist architecture, the Igreja do Sagrado Coração de Jesus, near the Marquês de Pombal square.
There will be a guided tour as they open the church especially for us. The visit will be in Portuguese and we'll improvise some translation in English within the group as best we can. The tour is free but they will appreciate a donation towards their work with people in situation of vulnerability and marginalisation.
We'll then set on a walk through Avenidas Novas towards two other modern churches where we'll briefly pause. Expect a total duration and standing/walking time of about 2h30 to 3h.
As we visit places of cult, please be respecful towards people's faith.
At the end of what will probably go down in history as the most spiritual LxPC walk to date, we'll have deserved some earthly food and drinks: the plan is to have a pic-nic in a park — there will be a possibility to buy things at a local supermarket, so you'll only need to carry a blanket and maybe glasses and such (more picnic coordination in the WhatsApp group for the walk).

::Due to the high temperature we're changing the date by two weeks::
Hi there!
I would like to show you around Costa de Caparica during a photo walk, starting at Convento do Capuchos. We will walk on top of the cliffs, taking in the great views, and enjoy a beach walk on the way back to the center of Costa de Caparica.
The route is around 8km long (1h40m walking time) and it is downhill or mostly flat.

At the end of the walk, we can grab snacks and enjoy the sunset in one of the beach bars.
