September's book description:
Piranesi by Susanna Clarke (2020) - 246 pagesPiranesi's house is no ordinary building: its rooms are infinite, its corridors endless, its walls are lined with thousands upon thousands of statues, each one different from all the others. Within the labyrinth of halls an ocean is imprisoned; waves thunder up staircases, rooms are flooded in an instant. But Piranesi is not afraid; he understands the tides as he understands the pattern of the labyrinth itself. He lives to explore the house.
There is one other person in the house-a man called The Other, who visits Piranesi twice a week and asks for help with research into A Great and Secret Knowledge. But as Piranesi explores, evidence emerges of another person, and a terrible truth begins to unravel, revealing a world beyond the one Piranesi has always known.
- 2nd September's Novel: Piranesi by Susanna ClarkeDrip Denver, Denver, CO
Please join us for a discussion of September's novel: Piranesi by Susanna Clarke. This second event is to meet the sudden growth in interest we've had. Please only RSVP to one or the other event for Piranesi.
Our meetings start loosely as people come in, get settled, and go to acquire what food and beverages they like. After everyone arrives or about a half hour has passed, we officially start the book discussion. Towards the end we set plans for the book poll and future meetings.
This event will be at Sky Tea (Drip Denver) where we have the upstairs loft reserved for our group. It is a 'coffee, tea, and more' drinks type shop. The food selection is limited to a small breakfast variety (muffins, breakfast burritos, maybe a bit more.) However, they are happy to allow outside food to be brought in for events. Please buy any drinks from them, of course.
The building has free parking for these shops in two parking garages. These are accessible by left turn off of Lincoln (a one-way street) both to the north and south of the shop. There is also metered parking on the streets around but the availability varies.
