Maryland Mountain via Quartz Valley Trail

Difficulty: about 6.5 miles with about 1000,feet elevation gain.

HIKE DESCRIPTION: Let’s hike to the summit of Maryland Mountain through some of the historic mining sites of Black Hawk's gold rush past. On this hike, we will climb up a forested trail and be treated to views of the Continental Divide, Black Hawk and the Front Range. ADDRESS/DIRECTIONS: We will meet at the Maryland Mountain Hidden Treasure Trailhead. The address is 8060 Black Hawk Blvd, CO-119, Black Hawk, CO 80422. Alternatively you can click on the alltrails link above for directions. Or if you use Apple Maps or Google maps, you can type in “Maryland Mountain Hidden Treasure Trailhead” for directions.

We wait 5 minutes for late arrivals…but no longer as that is inconsiderate to those arriving timely. So please allow extra time to get to the trailhead.

DOGS ALLOWED IF FOLLOW PARK RULES: All dogs must be on a leash while in the park. Control your pet around other visitors and their pets. And please make sure to pick up any waste left by your pet and dispose of it properly. Please be sure your dog is well behaved and can handle the length of the walk.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING: Water, snacks, layers of clothing, good hiking shoes/boots, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, gloves, hiking poles (if you find them helpful), and anything else you deem essential. PLEASE ALSO BRING MICROSPIKES IN CASE WE NEED THEM.
