Holiday Hike: North Table Mountain & New Terrain Brewing
Details
To celebrate the upcoming holidays, let’s do a hike at NorthTable Mountain. I highly encourage everyone to dress in their holiday spirit 🤶 🎅 for the hike...but not required. We will park on the road by New Terrain Brewing, so after the hike those who are interested can join for food & drink at the brewery. New Terrain Brewery does not serve food, but they have a food truck there at noon. On the day of the hike, their website says the food truck will be Sauvage Food Truck which serves Cajun/Creole comfort cuisine.
Difficulty: 9+ miles with 1,100-1,300 feet elevation gain. I’m still tending to a broken wrist so we will hike at a moderate pace…not quite as fast as our usual hikes.
We wait 5 minutes for late arrivals…but no longer as that is inconsiderate to those arriving timely. So please allow extra time to get to the trailhead.
HIKE DESCRIPTION: Lets do our holiday celebration hike at North Table Mountain followed by lunch and drink at the New Terrain Brewing (for those who are interested). Lava flow formed North Table Mountain and its sister mesa, South Table Mountain, about 60 million years ago. Mule deer, coyote, rabbit, prairie dogs and rattlesnakes inhabit the grasslands, while eagles, hawks and falcons nest in vertical cliffs along the mesa rim. See the following hike in alltrails except we will start at New Terrain Brewing and we will add on Lichen Peak: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/colorado/north-table-mountain-and-rim-rock-loop
DOGS ALLOWED IF FOLLOW PARK RULES: Allowed on a leash. Please be sure your dog is well behaved and can handle the length of the walk. Dog owners must clean up pet excrement, per Jefferson County Open Space Regulations (https://www.jeffco.us/DocumentCenter/View/8982).
ADDRESS/DIRECTIONS: We will meet at the New Terrain Brewing parking lot. Let’s park on the road along the Brewery. Please look for my blue Subaru Outback. The address for New Terrain Brewing is: 16401 Table Mountain Pkwy., Golden, CO 80403.
