Ben Tyler Trail

This is a new hike for me. Driven past the trailhead many times. Looked at it for quite a while…and am finally doing it. Parking is very limited…so carpooling is required for this hike. We will meet in Morrison for the carpool…see details below.

Difficulty: about 12 miles with about 3,400 feet elevation gain.

Hikes scheduled in advance are always subject to date/time change or cancellation due to weather, trail conditions or closures, or other unforeseen circumstances. We hike as a group at a moving pace of about 2.5 mph. Everyone is expected to wait at all intersections, creek crossings & periodically otherwise so that no one is left behind or hiking on their own for safety purposes.

HIKE DESCRIPTION: The Ben Tyler trail is an out and back hike located just outside of Bailey, Colorado in the Lost Creek Wilderness. The Ben Tyler Trail exhibits all the best of what the Colorado wilderness has to offer. Hike through aspens grove, under towering lodgepole pines, along alpine meadows, and past stunning overlooks. ADDRESS/DIRECTIONS: We will meet at the Morrison Park n Ride for the carpool. The address is 3097 S Rooney Rd, Morrison, CO 80465. The parking lot is right across the road to the East from the Philips 66 gas station. If you use google maps, you can type in “Morrison PnR” for directions. Look for my blue Subaru Outback.

We wait 5 minutes for late arrivals…but no longer as that is inconsiderate to those arriving timely. So please allow extra time to get to the trailhead.

NO SHOWS: If you are a no-show to 2 hikes, you will be booted from this meetup group. So please change your RSVP to “not going” if you are unable to make it.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING: Water, snacks, layers of clothing, good hiking shoes/boots, sunscreen, bug repellant, sunglasses, hat, gloves, hiking poles (if you find them helpful), and anything else you deem essential.
