Welcome to the London Cultureseekers Group!
If you're interested in exploring London's history & culture with other like minded people, then this is the only group you need to join! We are London's largest & most active cultural and history group!
We meetup 2-3 times a week to explore museums, art galleries, historical buildings, go on guided walks and attend history talks. We also have historic treasure hunts, visit the theatre, coffee evenings, social evenings, meals and attend classical music concerts. In the summer we also have day trips outside of the capital by train or coach to explore historical towns and the countryside.
The group is very friendly, we have members from 20 to 80 years old and across all backgrounds. The group has been running for over 18 years and is a great way to meet and make new friends. Plus after events we generally head to a local pub or cafe to chat.
You can either pay as you go at events or we do have an optional annual membership fee (details below).
Membership Fee
The group charges an optional annual membership fee of £14 per person.

- All day trips by train out of London will be FREE to attend (normally £7)
- All coach day trips out of London will be discounted by £7 per trip
- All the Blue Badge guided walks we do will be discounted by £2 per walk
- Entry to 20-30 paying museums & historical buildings that we visit across the year will be discounted by £2 each

Come along on Wednesday 21st May for a social walk around Chelsea's flower festival!
About the flower festival
For 1 week a year during the time of the nearby Chelsea Flower Show, the shops around the streets of Chelsea dress their shopfronts up with flowers and floral displays for London's largest free flower festival.This year’s theme is 'Flowers in Fashion', celebrating the swanky neighbourhood’s rich history as a fashion hub. Over 120 local businesses will adorn their shopfronts with displays inspired by iconic fashion moments and legendary designers.
There is a walking route to see all the displays which we will follow. It will last about 2 hours.
Cost
The event is free! Although its a Full Members event, so if you are not a Full Member, you will need to join below.Become a Full Member

Come along on Saturday 24th May to visit the historic city of St. Albans!
About St. Albans
St. Albans sits 22 miles north of London along the old Roman road of Watling Street. The Romans named it Verulamium. It was the second-largest town in Roman Britain and one of the most important. It was later destroyed in the Iceni revolt led by Boudica in AD 60/61 (along with London & the then capital Colchester) and rebuilt after.In medieval times, the town grew up on the hill to the east of the former Roman settlement around the Benedictine foundation of St. Albans Abbey. The abbey church was built where Alban (later St. Alban) was executed by the Romans in the 4th century. Alban, became the first British Christian martyr.
Today, the 'Cathedral and Abbey Church of St. Alban' is 84 metres (276 ft) long, with much of its present architecture dating from Norman times, it became a cathedral in 1877 and is the second longest cathedral in the United Kingdom (after Winchester).
Basically St. Albans is three cities in one, the Roman one in the park, the medieval one around the abbey and the modern one around the train station.
I live in St. Albans and know it very well, so I'll be your guide for the day. I will show you the medieval and Roman parts of the city, plus tell you about Alban.
Aprox Itinerary
9:51am - catch train
10:13am - arrive at St. Albans and walk into the city centre
10:40am - start the guided tour around the city
12noon - tour of the cathedral
1:15pm - stop for lunch - bring your own food, eat in a local café, a pub or the Saturday market has lots of food stalls
2:30pm - continue the tour of the town, visiting the Roman town remains and the Roman Mosaic Hypocaust
4:30pm - freetime: lots of nice shops here, head back to the station or visit one of the many old pubs in St. Albans (The White Hart is one of the oldest, dating from 1470)Train tickets
Trains going back at: 4:37pm, 4:52pm, 4:56pm, 5:07pm, 5:22pm, 5:26pm and the same times past each hour.Some trains are fast and some are stopping. A fast train takes 21mins and a stopping train takes 35mins.
GroupSave train tickets (3for2) which we will purchase on the day when you arrive in groups of 3 work out at £8.20 each.
Cost
The tour of St. Albans is free for Full Members and £7 per person for everyone else (payable by cash or PayPal on the day).The tour of the cathedral is £10 per person. Visiting the Roman Hypocaust is free.
You can decide to do all three, just one or your own thing.

- 'Have I Got Mews For You' Guided WalkInside Hyde Park (near the Italian Gardens - nearest tube: Lancaster Gate), London
Come along on Sunday 25th May for a walk around some of the Mews' of west London!
About the walk
A Mews is a row or street of houses or flats that have been converted from stables. There are currently 339 Mews in London, all built in the Georgian and Victorian periods.All were built to house horses on the ground floor, with servants living in the small rooms above. They were situated out of sight and smell behind a main house and had their own entrance. With the invention of the motor car, the horses were replaced and the stables now became garages.
In the 1960's, Mews became havens for alternative living. Artists and writers were drawn to them, partly for their bohemian chic, but mainly because they were cheap. They were at the centre of what was poised to become 'Swinging London'.
Almost all of London's Mews are in the boroughs of Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster. They have a distinct village feel, with lots of colour and foliage.
We will explore nine Mews in west London around the north side of Hyde Park. I will tell you the stories behind them, how they have changed, famous people who have lived in them and how today they are some of the most sought after and expensive properties in London.
The guided walk will be led by myself.

Come along on Wednesday 28th May for a guided tour of the historic Westminster School!
About the event
Westminster School is a public school which sits in the precincts of Westminster Abbey. It was founded by the Benedictine monks in the 11th century. Its academic results place it among the top schools nationally and half of its students go onto Oxford or Cambridge University. Its a boarding and day school for boys and girls with fees from £14,000 - £20,000 per term.Famous former pupils include: Ben Jonson (playwright), Christopher Wren (architect), Robert Hooke (scientist), A.A Milne (author), John Gielgud, Peter Ustinov (actors) and six former Prime Ministers.
The school is a well known building in Westminster, one you have probably walked past many times. We will be having a tour during the school's holiday.
The visit should last about 1h 30mins.
