Osteria Angelina (Italian-Japanese/Shoreditch)
Details
Calling all food lovers — join us for a festive evening of inventive Italian‑Japanese fusion cuisine at Osteria Angelina, tucked away in the stylish heart of Shoreditch.
### ✨ Why Osteria Angelina?
Reviews highlight this place as one of London’s most exciting dining spots, thanks to its bold “Itameshi” (Italian‑Japanese) concept and share‑friendly format. The venue is described as “darkly chic” and spacious, with pasta made on‑site in a glass‑walled pasta lab.
Food critics praise dishes like the Hokkaido milk bread with kumquat and burnt honey butter (“arguably the best bread we’ve eaten recently”).
And praise continues: “Pastas so accomplished they could anchor the menu of any great Italian in the city, sharpened by Japanese precision.”
### 🍽️ Menu Highlights (What we might try)
While the menu rotates with the seasons, here are some dishes that have stood out and could feature on our night:
- Hokkaido milk bread served with kumquat jam and burnt honey butter.
- Crudo & sashimi‑style small plates: e.g., house‑cured bream in kombu with burnt butter, or hamachi sashimi in truffle soy and furikake.
- Handmade pasta: tortellini with truffle & kombu, or fazzoletti with duck ragù and lotus crisps.
- Larger plates from the binchō‑tan grill: e.g., pork chop or rib‑eye drenched in miso butter with Japanese greens.
- Desserts to finish: though some critics found the black‑sesame cheesecake dense, the matcha/kinako‑based sweets get strong mention.
### ✅ Why You Should Come
- This is a special dinner outing — perfect for December, when we’re in the mood to try something bold and fun.
- The venue offers a vibrant yet refined atmosphere, ideal for a meetup with fellow foodies.
- It’s great for sharing: we can choose a few mains and sides so everyone gets to sample a range of flavours.
- A chance to discover a highly‑rated “fusion but not gimmick” restaurant, in a group setting that makes it even more fun.
Please note there will be a £25 deposit payable for this event. As there is a no-show charge of this amount being charged by the restaurant we are doing this to cover any potential cancellations without advance notice. Once you have signed up for the event you will be contacted by the organiser to arrange payment. Your place won’t be confirmed until we receive the payment, and places will be offered on a first come (and paid) first served basis.
Looking forward to an evening of delicious food, good company, and a memorable pre‑holiday dinner vibe. Let’s make 15 December great! 🎉
