We will paddle the San Marcos river from Martindale to Staples Dam. The San Marcos is spring-fed which means steady flow. We will put in at Spencer's Kayaks after shuttling vehicles to Staples Dam. The shuttle will consist of taking a few vehicles from Spencer's to Staples, and shuttle the drivers back. We will then get on the river at Spencer's and float to Staples dam, making stops along the way.
Spencer's rent kayak for about $35, if you do not have access to one. It would be a darn good idea to call them to reserve one for this day They are at (512) 357-6113. They have a limited supply
Expect a 3-4 hour float and we will find a place along the river to stop & eat lunch . Bring a snack, water, drinks, small cooler, sunblock, a hat, and anything else you may need.
Every boat must have a lifejacket. If you rent they will provide you one. If you are bringing a kayak, please bring a lifejacket.
FYI-Blowup Kayaks do not work well in this river.
