Hike: Yuen Tsuen to Yuen Long - The Ancient Trail

Time: 6 hours (approximate)

Description: The Yuen Tsuen to Yuen Long - Ancient Trail is an "ancient trail" linking these two cities in the New Territories. Prior to paved roads, villagers would travel between the two major towns to trade varies items at the Yueng Long market. This is not a difficult hike with too many stairs or a steep ascend/descend; however, it is 15 km in length.

Some highlights: We will be walking on an actual "ancient trail" that was used by villagers as they traveled to sell their goods at the Yeung Long market. In addition to walking the trail, we'll be immersed in the forested Tai Lam Country Park and also see the beautiful Tsing Ma Bridge in the distance.

What to bring:

• 3-4 liters of water
• Snacks to eat along the way (sandwich, fruits, nuts, etc)
• Hiking shoes with good support
• Sunglasses
• Headgear (cap/hat)
• Sunscreen
• Bug Spray
• In case of Rain or Cooler Temps: plan accordingly

Toilets: There are three toilets along the way; the start, at the midway point and at the end of the trail. I do not know which will be in service. You might need to get creative.

Stores: There are stores at the start and at the end of the trail. It is best to come prepared with food and water.

Meeting Point: Tsuen Wan West MTR - Exit E2. Once everyone arrives, we’ll walk to the minibus terminus and take the green minibus 95 (preferred) or bus 39M, 30, or 30X. We’ll exit at the Tsuen Wan Adventist Hospital bus stop.

Time: 10:00 am (SHARP!)

IMPORTANT: Out of respect to the members that arrive on time, we will only be able to wait a maximum of 5 minutes. Should you arrive after 10:05 am, I will no longer be answering phone calls or responding to messages as I need to give my time and attention to those that have arrived on time.
