The Sunday stroll - A Worsley wander
Details
New joiners welcome!
A leisurely, circular walk on a - hopefully sunny - Sunday, taking in a few of the paths around Worsley.
Starting from Eccles station, the walk follows quiet streets, a nature reserve, and the Swinton Greenway to Monton. We will then join the Bridgewater Canal to Worsley Delph, return via woodland paths and the Loopline, and finish back in Eccles, with a pub stop after the walk.
The route is flat on good paths, though it may be muddy in places—wear suitable footwear and bring waterproofs.
These walks are designed to be suitable for people with no walking experience or specialised clothing. Also anyone who just fancies an easier walk for a change, all are welcome.
FAQs:
What to wear? Walking boots are recommended as paths may be muddy. Bring waterproofs and warm clothing.
A hot flask with your favourite drink is always a good idea this time of year. Bring enough water, some snacks and food for lunch.
Can I bring a dog? Dogs are welcome on a short lead, see https://www.madwalkers.org.uk/about-us/policies/dogs-on-walks-policy/ for details.
Can I drive to the walk start? You’re more than welcome to meet us at Eccles station— just make sure to arrive before 10:35 am. The walk will start on time, we cannot wait for late arrivals, sorry. We will wait for the train from Manchester.
Many of our members are not on Meetup, so the RSVP list will be smaller than the total number of attendees. Typically around 30 people join each walk, so there's plenty of people to chat with.
