Spring is here! Late March to mid-April is Virginia bluebell season. If timing is on our side, we’ll catch the bluebells at their peak on this beautiful loop hike through Susquehanna State Park. (When we did this hike in December last year, a friend told me about bluebell season - I’m determined not to miss it!)

This is a great hike! Expect rolling hills, dense forests, river views, and - hopefully - carpets of bluebells. There are a few tricky stream crossings, so waterproof shoes/boots and hiking poles are recommended.

Please note that this is NOT a beginner hike due to distance, elevation gain, and pace. We'll hike at a brisk pace of 2.7 mph, but will stop for flower photos!

Optional drinks/lunch afterwards at Hopkins Farm Brewery (3833 Rider Ln, Havre De Grace, MD 21078). They don’t serve food, but there are usually some very good food trucks. 😋

This hike is in a state park, so you'll be able to add ~8 miles to your total Miles for Maryland if you're participating! More info about the challenge below.

MILES FOR MARYLAND HIKE SERIES
This hike is part of a Maryland State Park series I’m leading throughout 2026. The goal is to explore great state park trails together and, for those participating in Miles for Maryland, to chip away at our miles. You’ll be able to add ~8 miles to your total from this hike in Susquehanna State Park.
