Welcome to The Walking Group! Join us on visits to scenic rail trails, conservation lands, parks, beaches, and more. Participation is open to all. The goal of this group is to enjoy the outdoors, exercise, and make new friends.
By signing up for this event you agree to abide by the following rules:
- Only sign up if you are sure you will be attending. If you sign up for an event but will not be attending, change your response ASAP. Cancellations and no-shows make it difficult for the volunteers to continue organizing events.
- Due to our large group size, waitlists are often necessary for parking and/or safety issues. Priority on the waiting lists goes to founding members and those who have hosted events.
- Dress appropriately for the weather, wear sturdy footwear, and bring plenty of water and sunscreen.
- You assume all risks when participating and certify that you are fit to participate.
- All participants must use care and good judgment and obey all instructions, rules, and regulations of the venue and local authorities.
- The volunteer group leaders, hosts, and other participants are not liable for any harm or injury caused by participating in the detailed purpose of the event.
- Come on time.
- Check Meetup for cancellations and changes in meeting times and locations before each event.
- Spread out and stay on the right side of the trails.
- Be kind to everyone.
- Call 911 if you have an emergency during the event, contact Denise at 978-835-4242 if you need assistance during an event.

Ski Great Brook Farm and Forest
Great Brook Ski Touring Center, 1018 Lowell St, Carlisle, MA, USThe Walking Group joins The Exploring Group to ski the best local snow conditions in years. Purchased by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 1974, Great Brook Farm is rich in history and has more than 10 miles of trails.
After receiving more than 20 inches of cold, dry snow the last week of January, ski conditions continue to be unusually great ! Temperatures are expected to moderate starting Feb. 2nd with no significant melting. For some pleasant skiing close-by, join us for an informal ski outing on natural snow with groomed trails (see greatbrookski.com ).
Trail passes are $20 (15 seniors) and if rentals needed, $25 more.
