We're thrilled to be launching the Melbourne Chapter of this successful
meetup group that started in Sydney in 2017.

For this first session we're diving right in with a great problem to solve - the Pay Gap - myth or fact? Could this be a contributing to the lack of women in our tech teams?

There is still a lot of debate as to whether the gender pay gap even exists at all. Many argue it's a myth and simply comes down to men and women making different choices. However, there is a lot of evidence to the contrary, including this Glassdoor review of the pay gap in tech being the widest of all https://www.fastcompany.com/3065870/the-gender-pay-gap-is-still-widest-in-tech-says-glassdoors-chief-economist

We're going to take a look at how the pay gap is evaluated and, more importantly, how to get rid of it and improve the route for women into and through careers in tech.

You'll soon find out that in our meetups we don't come along with all the answers - far from it. What we do is facilitate the conversation and bring industry insights, relevant data and stories to help reach workable solutions we can all implement to improve gender balance in our tech teams.

Fitting for our launch we delighted to welcome our special guest, CRAIG REES, Head of Engineering at global financial platform, Airwallex. Craig's an accomplished and passionate leader of technology, products and innovation, with an impressive career including impactful roles held at Vodafone, BCG Digital Ventures, Atlassian and Unlockd as well as advisory roles with Onestack, PredictiveHire and Alignd.

We're thrilled to be hosted and sponsored by IRESS at their great offices in the Melbourne CBD. Whose advice software, data and trading services are used by more than 100,000 people. They manage market data from 153 global exchanges and more than 450 third-party enterprises have integrated IRESS technology into their own software.
