The Faversham Marshes, particularly Oare Marshes, offer a scenic walk with historical ties to the area's explosives industry.

A circular walk around the marshes takes about 3 hours , exploring the waterways and remnants of this past industry.

Oare Marshes, managed by the Kent Wildlife Trust, is a nature reserve known for its diverse wetland birdlife and is part of the Swale Site of Special Scientific Interest.

The site is steeped in History and death and was the site of the largest explosion in British history As we walk will examine the History of the site and try to find the exact place where the explosion accured

A large nature reserve (over 200 acres) with freshwater dykes, open water scrapes, a sea-wall, and saltmarshes.

Historical Significance:

The marshes were once a center of Britain's explosives industry, with remnants of this past visible along the walk.

Options include the Three Mariners pub or the Café by the Creek in Oare, or you can bring your own food.

Train Access:

The walk starts and ends in Faversham, which is accessible by train.
