Simple Screen Printing
Details
Make beautiful artworks to adorn your walls or add pizzazz to otherwise ordinary household items with simple, yet effective, screen-printed designs.
Made popular by Andy Warhol, Banksy, and the T-shirt industry, Screen Printing is a very versatile art form with the added benefit of easily making multiple copies of your art.
Learn the basics with me in the hands-on workshop where you will:
1. Learn the DESIGN skills needed to create stencils using words, patterns, and shapes, starting with a minimalist one colour print.
2. MAKE a physical stencil, which can then be taped against the screen, so you can create new designs as often as you like.
3. Get tips on how to print onto either FABRIC and/or PAPER. I’ll supply plenty of good quality paper, as well as one blank, white cotton Tea towel per person.
4. If you wish to print on other fabric, for example, a light-coloured cotton T-shirt or a Calico bag, you will need to bring this with you. Please contact me for more information about items that are suitable.
5. Learn essential clean-up tips and know how to CURE your prints.
6. See a demonstration on how to make a screen, so you can easily screen print at home.
7. Receive extra information and inspiration so you can go further when the class is over. I’ll show you how to design a multicoloured ‘fine art’ screen print, using multiple layers to build a more complex design.
This workshop is for you if:
1. you’re a complete beginner looking for an exciting, new, creative experience.
2. you remember screen printing at school and want to re-engage with this simple but effective printmaking process.
3. ‘Stencilling’ or ‘Paper-cutting’ is already something you do, and you want to learn ways to take what you know to a whole new level.
4. you’re looking for a relaxing way to spend a Saturday afternoon, mingling with people who also know the value of taking time out for some creative self-care.
Take your inspiration from the images supplied, or you are welcome to bring your own source material. With all my classes and workshops, you’ll be guided and supported a little or a lot depending on your wishes, and I offer honest advice and feedback so that by the end of the session, you’ll have a finished artwork and the confidence to continue the fun at home.
I know you’ll enjoy the PROCESS of screen printing because you’ll be focusing on learning something new, and you’ll be allocating time away from your chores and responsibilities in a friendly and relaxed environment.
