HIKING: KUMANO KODO - OMINE OKUGAKE MICHI PILGRIMAGE, JAPAN
KUMANO KODO: NOT JUST ONE TRAIL The UNESCO Kumano Kodō consists of six ancient pilgrimage routes that criss-cross the largest Peninsula of Japan. These sacred trails were and are used for the pilgrimage to the sacred site Kumano Sanzan. We will be completing the Omine Okugake Michi. Since the 9th century the trail has been used by Shugendo Buddhist practitioners as a test of strength. This trail is the most challenging of all the Kumano Kodo trails as well as one of the most difficult hikes in Japan due to its remoteness, length, and non-stop vertical ascents and descents. The challenge of the Omine Okugake Michi sets it apart from all of the other Kumano Kodo trails. The other Kumano Kodo trails are easy to access, nowhere near as demanding in terms of hiking, and return to roads and towns along the way. The most popular are the Nakahechi trail and the Kohechi trail. Both are a walk in the park compared to the Omine Okugake Michi. The Omine Okugake Michi has very little information available in English and no commercial tours run on this trail. That is why we will run this epic event. What we're about

The main focus of this group is to take on the most epic local and international adventures to push our physical and mental boundaries while exploring places off the tourist trail. Ultimately, we want to test the limits by undertaking challenges such as hiking impressive mountains, circumnavigating land by kayak, biking from one country to another, skiing backcountry in untouched powder, and more.

We aim to step away from the mainstream and have unique and authentic experiences with expedition style travel. We will have local trips to build our strength, skills, and confidence to prepare for our world adventures!

This group is open to anyone that's looking to step out of their comfort zone and overcome challenges in some of the best places in the world while making good friends along the way.
