Buddhist Perspective: Peaceful and Wrathful Deities of the Enneagram
Details
Explore the Enneagram through a Buddhist lens, examining the Peaceful and Wrathful Deities associated with each point and how these energies can help you wake up and experience life with more presence.
Description: From a Buddhist perspective, the Enneagram can be understood not only as a map of personality, but also as a map of awakening. Each point on the symbol reflects patterns that can either pull us deeper into reactivity and identification or become gateways into presence, awareness, and compassion.
In Tibetan Buddhism, Peaceful and Wrathful Deities represent different expressions of awakened energy. The Peaceful Deities invite openness, gentleness and compassion, while the Wrathful Deities confront the ego more directly, interrupting the patterns that keep us asleep. Though their expressions differ, both serve the same purpose: helping to wake us up.
In this Intentional Living Circle, we will explore the nine Enneagram points through this lens, looking at the Peaceful and Wrathful Deities living at each point on the symbol and how they can support us when we move away from presence and connection with our essential nature. We will reflect on how these energies show up in our own lives and how they can be invoked as supporting energies for awakening and alignment.
Facilitator: Sophia Carmien is an Enneagram teacher and guide who helps people reconnect with their deeper selves by bringing awareness to inner patterns and expanding what’s possible. After experiencing a profound transformation through her own work with the Enneagram, she now shares this tool of ancient wisdom with others. Through teaching, workshops, and one-on-one work, she supports the shift from habitual reactivity to a life of freedom and empowered authenticity. Connect at
