About us

Life is an adventure! This group will focus on exploring our world through adult hiking, cultural and social outings designed for independent participants. If you are interested in connecting with new people (who are 50 and over) to share adventures and camaraderie, and you love to explore new opportunities in our area and beyond, please sign up! This group loves the outdoors, so we plan to do hikes in the 2–4 mile range, as well as get together for tours of historic sites, movies, dining, and so much more! We are also planning on a couple of overnight getaways to explore a little farther from home. It will be an adventure, and we hope you will join us.

Weather permitting, let's bike the JAM Trail from DEEC to Old New Castle and back. Ebikes preferred! It's a mostly flat 15-mile round trip. We'll have lunch at Jessop's Tavern in colonial style to celebrate Memorial Day! Get your bike out and dust it off!

Join us for the Last Sunday of the Month Brunch at the 🦀 Chesapeake Inn 🦀 on May 31 (not Memorial Day weekend). Free parking across from the Chesapeake Inn on Ferry Slip Road and one block west on Bohemia Avenue.

Menu Brunch is only served indoors on the second floor of the restaurant. We have two tables next to each other.

After lunch we can enjoy walking around Chesapeake City with views of the C&D Canal.

Bring cash. No separate checks. Only 16 people max.

Please be considerate and only sign up if you really intend to go! If you cancel at the last minute and there's a waiting list, you will not be able to sign up for future brunches.

🚣‍♀️ Kayaking at Lums Pond 🚣‍♀️ and Lunch at Grain H2O

Let's go kayaking on Lums Pond (weather permitting)! If you don't have your own kayak, you can rent one. Be sure to arrive by 10:00am when the rental office opens to get your choice of kayak. Rentals include paddles and life vests.

Single Kayak, $10 per hour
Tandem Kayak, $12 per hour

We will only paddle for an hour on the lake. Bring water and snacks, sunscreen, hat, a towel and a waterproof pouch for your cell phone. Water shoes and a cushion to sit on are useful, but not necessary.

If you don't have a state park pass, the fee is $5 for DE residents, $10 for out of state.

Directions: The main entrance of the park is on Howell School Road. Drive to Area 2 and turn right into parking area. From here, you will have to walk 2 or 3 minutes on a paved path through the woods to the rental office.

Workshop Cancellation/Refund Policy:
We do not offer refunds for any workshop. If available; a makeup date will be provided. If you’re unable to attend the makeup class OR there is no makeup class available at the time of your cancellation, your product will be made for you to pick up at a later date.
