This is a circular walk from the centre of Ruyton-XI-Towns following footpaths along the river Perry and then green lanes and eventually onto the Clyffe. It is barely 5 miles so pretty leisurely with two short but steady climbs. However there is a very interesting arboretum on the way which we visit and the castle ruins near the walk's end. It starts at the Recreation Car Park (SY4 1NE) reached along Doctor's Meadow and Aldersley Way (free). Grid Ref SJ394222 What3words sheets.shot.subtitle.
In the 12thC you were likely to be hanged if English and found in Ruyton and similarly if Welsh and found in Baschurch. Hopefully border issues have now been settled.
After there is the Talbot Inn on the main road for a visit if required. Short stop on the way so please bring drinks and a snack as usual.
