Murals in the 20s, early Thursday evening edition

Details

One day, between a bus ride back from Ardmore and a walk up to Fairmount, I came across some very intriguing murals in the area New Yorkers would call "the 20s." Even if that label isn't geographically accurate, I figured at the time that scheduling our next mural walk on the 20th in the year 2025 would insured that the event title still worked. :)

Then, at out most recent event, which was on a weekday, some people said that they had wanted to attend one of these before but couldn't do so on weekends. And so, an idea was born: one itinerary, two dates! Forgetting what's in the parentheses above, I suggested the 18th as our evening date, but why be boxed in by a concept? :)

Now, this early Thursday evening edition of the walk will probably not be as expansive as the one two days later that starts in the early afternoon, though both can be followed by food and drink in the area with whoever is free and interested. We'll see how this experiment works!

Here's the itinerary as it stands right now (I'll literally walk through it and probably revise it):
Reach High and You Will Go Far, 1926 Arch Street (which is basically on 20th Street :))
Cloud in Your Teacup, 2000 Cuthbert Street
Point of Triangulation: Intersection of Identity, 21st Street at John F. Kennedy Blvd
Mapping Freire, 2110 Market Street
Parkway Daydreams, 2200 Benjamin Franklin Parkway
Shadow of a Church (Restoration), 2205 Walnut Street
The Philadelphia Design Building (Restoration), 2300 Chestnut Street
Strength In Our Bonds, 2300 Market Street
The People’s Harvest, 60 N 23rd Street
River Field, 400-442 N 24th Street
The Tree of Life, 800 N 23rd Street
(These last two will probably be saved for a separate Fairmount mural walk, even on Saturday...)

On another note: If any of you are interested in attending the Tuesday "Nights of Co-creation" at renowned artist Meg Saligman's new studio at 225 Church Street (we talked about this at the last event), just show up (the times are 5:30-8:30 and sometimes later) or contact me at karenk19750@gmail.com or karena2220@yahoo.com for more information.
