Come and learn to play Mafia, an exciting social deduction game, in a supportive and friendly atmosphere. The numbers for this event have been deliberately kept low to make for a relaxed and cosy feeling. Complete beginners welcome, as well as those who have played before who enjoy playing in a more relaxed environment.

Cost
There is a recommended donation of between £5 and £10 to cover our Meetup fees. If you can't afford this though, please don't let that stop you from coming!

What is Mafia?
Mafia is a ten-player social game. Each player gets a secret role and works with their team to win. Games last about 45 minutes, so we play several during each event. If more than ten people attend, we will take turns to spectate and play - spectating can be just as interesting as playing!
The Mafia Team’s goal is to eliminate the Citizens, while the Citizens must figure out who the Mafia members are and eliminate them.
If you’re new, don’t worry! We particularly welcome first-time players, and we’ll explain everything. No prior knowledge or experience is needed.

• How Does the Game Work?

The game has two phases: Night and Day.

• Night Phase: The Mafia secretly eliminate an innocent Citizen. Two special roles come into play:
• The Don (Mafia) learns if a Citizen is the Sheriff.
• The Sheriff (Citizen) learns if a player is Mafia.
• Day Phase: Everyone discusses who they think the Mafia are and votes to eliminate one player.

The game continues until either the Mafia are eliminated or they outnumber (or equal) the Citizens. But don’t worry - you’ll pick it up quickly as you play!

• Why Mafia?

Mafia is a global phenomenon, played by over 15,000 people in 50+ countries. Clubs and tournaments are constantly popping up, with multiple websites and federations like the "Mafia World Tour".
