Title: Deploying large-scale, serverless and asynchronous distributed systems - without end-to-end integrated tests
Abstract: Modern distributed architectures are increasingly composed of large numbers of decoupled, asynchronous components. In AWS, these components are plumbed together via services like SQS, SNS, Kinesis and S3 often integrated via small and frequent numbers of microservices or lambdas. But how do you test these architectures if they are cloud native?
It’s 2019, and we can do better than deploying the entire stack and running a battery of E2E tests against them.
In his talk, Matt will demonstrate how you can scale development of large-scale systems across teams, technology and process, and unlock the agility of your cloud-native architecture.
WARNING: there will be code.
Bio: Matt is a Principal Consultant at DiUS and self-described polyglot with a passion for leadership, development practices and craftsmanship, challenging teams to think differently about how they deliver software.
As a core contributor to the popular Pact contract testing framework and author of the Muxy chaos testing tool, his train rides are occupied with Open Source development, dividing the remaining spare time across running a local Code Club, playing basketball, wake boarding and pumping iron like Arnie.

His talk:
Getting started with serverless on AWS
Serverless computing has helped transform how we deliver software on the cloud today. Developers can focus on doing what they do best - writing high quality software that scales without having to worry about managing the underlying infrastructure. This helps enable businesses deliver value to customers faster and cheaper than ever before.
In this talk, we will examine how adopting serverless can help accelerate your business in delivering managed cloud solutions quickly. Following that, we will explore common use cases for serverless applications and identify which AWS products can help you get started on your journey.
