About Western Sydney Local LLM Club

Western Sydney Local LLM Club was created to educate, inform and safeguard personal and business data by promoting on-device LLMs and bringing to light the most cutting-edge developments in AI. We're a passionate community where people can freely discuss all uses of AI, business integrations and the indie hacking that's only now becoming possible. Join our community and enjoy lightning talks, free food and drink, and a flourishing community of entrepreneurs at WOTSO Blacktown.

About our guest speaker

Please welcome Sebastian Hagemeyer as the guest speaker for this event. As a new schoolteacher and science educator, Seb is passionate about education and creating new games and tools for children to have fun and learn. After creating popular apps for his students, he and a few friends created a game called Bloodpawn in their spare time. Through skilful prompting, tweaking and experimentation, he successfully promoted Bloodpawn, taking its videos from zero to over 2 million views in 30 days.

Bloodpawn now has a thriving chess community, with more and more games being played every day. Seb will share his worldview, strategy and method for going viral with Pip the Pawn.

Our conversation will focus on how a product becomes material for short videos. What matters most in the opening seconds? How do you build a passionate community? Where does Claude help with developing an idea, shaping a script or exploring alternatives, and where does the creator's own judgement matter most?

What your business can learn

For independent developers and business owners, these questions extend well beyond games. A useful product still needs a clear explanation and a reason for someone to pay attention. Seb's experience opens a discussion about how AI can support that work and which parts of the process others could adapt to their own projects.

Bring your questions about the relationship between making something, telling its story and finding the people who might use it.

What else to expect

After our guest speaker's talk, we'll open the floor to discuss developments in LLMs, what is possible on personal hardware, which capabilities are worth testing and what a new release could change in an existing workflow.

Community lightning talks give members a few minutes to share a prototype, demonstrate a workflow or unpack a technical problem. Unfinished projects are welcome. Explaining what you tried and where you got stuck can give other members a useful starting point for discussion.

Pizza and time for conversation are part of the evening. Come to meet other local builders, exchange ideas and find potential collaborators. Newcomers are welcome alongside experienced developers and people exploring AI for their businesses.
