Information and knowledge systems are at the heart of virtually every business interaction, process, and decision, especially when one considers the vast evolution of digital technologies in the last few years. Managers do not have the luxury of abdicating participation in information and knowledge system decisions. Managers who choose to do so risk limiting their future business options. However, many organisations are finding it challenging to project management digitalisation initiatives and same holds true of the digitalisation of knowledge management. This paper focuses on the interaction of two business critical activities (managing a knowledge management project and managing an information and communication project) when organisation decide to embark on a digitalisation journey. The paper will provide clarity on the various roles and responsibilities of the knowledge manager and the technology manager when a digitalisation project needs to be digitalised. It will also deliberate the various technological solutions that needs to form part of a knowledge management system when embarking on the digitalisation of knowledge management.

Our Speaker:
Deonie has both practical experience and an in-depth theoretical knowledge of both knowledge management and Competitive intelligence. She has lectured extensively on both these subject areas as well as received numerous invitations to present papers and workshops both locally and internationally. Dr Botha is a prolific author on Knowledge management and her list of publications includes articles, study guides for universities and three books. She holds a doctorate and two masters’ degrees and has completed several diplomas. She has qualifications in Knowledge management, Information science, Information technology, Strategic analysis, Decision making, Competitive intelligence, Change management and Human Resource Management. Dr Botha is an ad-hoc faculty member of the University of Pretoria.
Deonie has a large professional network and an even larger network of friends in Australia. She visits Australia at least twice a year and spend her time in Queensland and more specifically in the Noosa area.
