6:05 PM - "Setting Up CloudFront for Active-Active Global Infrastructure with Latency-Based Routing" - Lovee Jain

Description: In this advanced session, we'll dive into the intricacies of setting up an active-active global infrastructure to enhance your company's global services. We'll start by exploring the benefits of active-active infrastructure for global companies, followed by a detailed example of deploying a service across three regions with latency-based routing. We'll then introduce AWS CloudFront and demonstrate how integrating it with Route 53 can provide both low latency and robust performance. We'll also discuss potential risks and mitigation strategies, touch briefly on caching mechanisms, and conclude with a fully operational global service setup. This talk is designed for professionals aiming to implement multi-region architectures and optimize service accessibility worldwide.

Bio: Lovee is a Senior Software Engineer at Prezzee, a GDG Melbourne Organiser and also a Women Techmakers Ambassador. A tech inquisitive philomath, she loves problem solving and solution design. She has worked at a city council where she developed a lot of useful system integrations and while at Prezzee she develops and works on multiple gift card solutions to cater the B2B2C market.

Description: Recently I decided to write (my first) discord bot to help some friends track stats while playing an MMO, and of course I went serverless to quickly prove this would work and keep costs low. Over the next few weeks the bot evolved from an S3 event, to synchronous APIs and back to asynchronous again. In this talk I'll discuss the architecture decisions, the benefits and fun of serverless prototyping.
