The Art of Christian Waller

Born in Castlemaine, Victoria on the 2nd August 1894, Christian Waller was an intensely spiritual artist whose drawings, paintings, murals, stained glass windows and prints are permeated with her unique synthesis of Christianity and Theosophy.

Inspired by the Arts and Crafts Movement, Symbolism, the Celtic Revival and by Theosophy and Hermetic Lore, Christian’s exemplary skills and superb artistic achievements shall be brought to light in this presentation by Dr Caroline Miley.

Dr Caroline Miley has lectured in Art History and Theory at the Victorian College of the Arts (University of Melbourne) and was curator of the College Collection. She consults for heritage architects and has published a number of pioneering books on the Arts and Crafts Movement in Australia. She is the author of ‘Christian Waller Stained Glass; Towards the Light’.
