The Holy Grail as a Gateway towards the Spiritual

This talk will look at one of the great mysteries of the world and discover the unfolding truth of the Holy Grail for human beings who choose to grow in consciousness and compassion as outlined by Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925).

We will describe the spiritual makeup of the human being as a foundation for the journey towards “new organs of perception” and provide some exercises and meditations towards better recognizing some of the effects of this process.

The talk will trace the essence of this enigmatic secret of the Grail, originating at the Mystery of Golgotha, nurtured by the Grail Stream via Arthurian knights and ancient alchemists, and now communicated as an open secret in the Social Sculpture of internationally acclaimed artist Joseph Beuys (1921-1986).

We will explore the hero’s journey, Parsifal, as written down in the Middle Ages by Wolfram von Eschenbach (1170-1220), a legend which connects the ‘blameless fool’ (Richard Wagner), Golgotha and the Grail.

This is an ideal talk for those wishing to expand their spiritual practice, to further their knowledge of the nature of the human being towards reaffirming the importance of empathy as a contemporary skill towards a renewed understanding of fellow human beings and the potential beneficial influence we can all bring to the world today.

Ian George met the Anthroposophy of Rudolf Steiner at 21 and this ultimately informed much of his approach to work and life.
He trained as a Civil Engineer and in 1990 was a founding director of a Melbourne integrated property company, specializing in funds management and commercial development. He is the current Advisor at the Joseph Beuys Cafe in the Nicholson Building.
