About This Walk: This walk takes us back in time on two lineages of time, pre and post colony history and the importance of the Elster Creek upstream also known as; Union Creek. By the time of the Gold Rush, the Brighton area had taken hold and an emerging colony needed fresh produce and agriculture to support the fast growing population. As such many of the lands southwards on the bayside began to be populated and this made great upheaval of the land use in the area. This walk will take you past 12 key landmarks of the area and turning points of history known to locals.
After our walk - we will complete our walk at a lovely cafe near where we began at Bentleigh Station area.

Trains - to Bentleigh Station our cafe starting point is very nearby
Trams - 64 tram then walk to starting point on Center Road

About This Walk – we’ll be walking past some of Melbourne’s most exclusive streets and homes. The history about Toorak is shrouded in mystery and some misinformation. While neighboring South Yarra is the fashion shopping hub, Toorak enjoys a much slower way of life, ...but never far from the media spotlight. Many of the controlling powers of industry and government reside in Toorak here’s your chance to see how they live and a few of the stories behind why they made Toorak their home. I have some wonderful surprises in store for you on this walk!
After our walk - we’ll go to a lovely cafe to discuss what we’ve seen.
How To Get There:
Trams: Number 58 from St Kilda Road cnr Toorak Road West or from Market Street in City
Train + tram: Train to South Yarra then a tram 58 on Toorak Road - stop 132 (best option)
Parking: behind Woolworths (Tok H) enter via Jacksons Road
