#MelbRecMeetup #13 - Opportunities and challenges of scaling businesses
Imagine this: you’re in talent acquisition for an organization that acquires another, and are charged with hiring 100 developers for that organization in 90 days. Now, also imagine that the company for which you’re hiring currently has a team of 45 employees, split between the United States and Argentina, which took them seven years to build. On top of that, the organization doesn’t yet have salaries or locations set for any new hires. This is exactly the scenario David Nason, Infor’s Head of Talent Acquisition, once faced. Crazy, isn’t it? But there are many other business stories like this hence we think, that’s a great topic for our upcoming Melbourne Recruitment Meetup. Joining us to talk about the opportunities and challenges of scaling businesses will be Matthew Varley (COO, Xplor), Sara Ramirez Morales (Resident People Geek at A Cloud Guru) and, straight out of the UK, Hung Lee (CEO Workshape and Curator of Recruiting Brainfood). About our speakers: • Hung Lee is the founder of - the revolutionary recruiting platform for Software engineers. As an early employee at (Acquired by Expedia for $703m), where he spent 8 years in various senior executive roles across Asia, Public IPO in 2006, and spearheaded the integration of acquired businesses in Asia. Huge thanks to our partners, Xplor for hosting us and Workable for sponsoring drinks and food. We wouldn’t be able to run this event without their massive support. Please head over to our meetup page and RSVP if you know you can make it: Numbers will be strictly limited at 100 so get in early to avoid disappointment. We look forward to seeing you all! What we're about

Welcome to the Melbourne Recruitment Meetup - #melbrecmeetup

The recruitment industry has moved on from the days of recruiters being very insular and refusing to share IP for fear of losing some kind of competitive advantage. With the advancement of technology and thinking, the desire to be more collaborative is a lot more apparent.

We've set this group up in order to create and leverage a stronger, more collaborative talent community across Melbourne. It's mostly aimed at internal recruiters/talent managers and HR professionals but open to innovative agencies who are keen to contribute and evolve their own practices too. While also being able to come and meet and network with like-minded professionals. You'll also hear from recruitment leaders and influencers on a range of topics such as latest trends in the industry, new tools to try and other insights that will hopefully enable us all to be share knowledge in the hope we'll keep getting better at what we do. We want everyone to contribute to discussions, to endorse and challenge opinions while also sharing insights and innovative approaches to traditional challenges.

We're busy, talented people and can learn a lot from each other, so come along and let's discuss all things recruitment while enjoying ourselves in a fun, supportive environment. With beer/wine and pizza.
