Park: At 4900 acres, Elm Creek Park Reserve is the largest park in Three Rivers. The park features amenities for almost every outdoor activity.
The easiest driving access to Eastman Nature Center is from the SW side of the park, Fernbrook Lane to Elm Creek Road. If coming from the South, access Fernbrook lane from 610 and County Rd 81
Trails: Hiking trails include several hilly connecting loops next to the nature center, and one large loop around the southwest side of the park.
The terrain is gradual slopes through forests. The trails will be a combination of paved and unpaved. Expect some sections to be slippery, and or muddy.
Time/distance: This hike will cover 5-7 miles and take 2-2.5 hours.
Optional lunch or coffee afterwards at nearby diner
Speed/distance: This is going to be a hardy hike which means we will hike fast (depending on conditions) and take few breaks.
Difficulty: Challenging due to fast pace.
Amenities: There is a restroom and drinking water at Eastman Nature Center at the trail head. There are no other amenities along our path.
Recommend to bring: Water, high-energy snack, good hiking shoes/boots, dress according to weather.
In this hike you need to keep up with the group. We don’t want to leave anyone behind.
