MFAH Film: Ancient Beacons Long for Notice
Details
Ancient Beacons Long for Notice is the third film in artist Dario Robleto’s trilogy exploring the Golden Record—a collection of images, languages, music, and sounds launched into space in 1977 as a message of goodwill to any life-forms that might encounter it. That hopeful gesture was carefully curated to present humanity’s “best face forward,” omitting any traces of war, injustice, famine, or environmental decay. This film examines the implications of that ethos, questioning humankind’s moral obligation to account for its actions, both good and bad.
