Lysterfield PARK
🧭 Trail Description (Step-by-step)

  1. Start at Mahogany Carpark or Logan Park Track entrance
  • Follow signs toward Trig Track / Trig Point Lookout
  • The trail begins as a fire access road or formed gravel trail
  1. Ascend the Trig Track
  • This is the steepest section – steady incline for 1.5–2 km
  • Surface is gravel/dirt; can be slippery in winter → wear good grip shoes
  • Elevation builds quickly—expect heart rate to rise here
  1. Reach Trig Point Lookout
  • You’ll see a small clearing with a concrete trig marker
  • Views of Dandenong Ranges, on a clear day even Port Phillip Bay
  • Great spot for a short water break and photos
  1. Descend via Logan Park Track or the loop trail
  • The descent is more gradual if you return via Logan Park Track
  • Loop finishes back at your original trailhead

📌 Notes:

  • 🦘 You’ll likely see kangaroos in the open grass near the base trail

  • ☁️ In August, early morning may be misty → consider a windbreaker

  • 🧭 Trails are well-marked but bring Google Maps or AllTrails just in case
    🧳 What to Bring:

  • Good trail runners or hiking boots (steep gravel)

  • Windproof jacket (cold and windy at top)

  • Water bottle (at least 500–750ml)

  • Snack if doing it slow or after a workout
