Enos Lake Lookout Loop

Details

Carpooling is encouraged. Parking for about 10 cars.
We will be hiking a mix of logging roads and trails. Enos Lake is in the center of Nanoose peninsula, with nearby ponds and wetlands supporting a wide diversity of birds and aquatic life.
This is an intermediate hike: it's not suitable for beginners. That being said, you might need to make an effort to keep up, this is not a stroll in a park: we will hike at a moderate pace with short stops when we get to a gorgeous place. Footing sometimes can be slippery, varied and unstable (with stones, roots, etc). Some sections are quite steep. We might do some exploring and route finding/bushwacking.
Duration: about 2 1/2 hours
Elevation: about 300 m
Distance: about 8 km
No dogs. & No out house.
Late cancellations might be marked as no-show if there is/was a waitlist.
ADDED EXTRA; 2pm June Rock Fest @ Parksville Outdoor Theater. The sound system will fill the park. Listen from the lawns outside the fence.

  • Directions: From the Petro Canada gas station on the Island Highway (Highway 19) turn east onto Northwest Bay Road. Turn right onto Powder Point Road and continue until you reach a four way stop. Continue straight. Look for the trail head on the left hand side of the road (after about 200 meters).
